An Evening of Musical Appreciation

East London Chorus sings a stunning range of classical music including Bach, Brahms, Schubert and Fanny Mendelssohn. Less played than her famous brother Felix, Fanny's parents did their best to put her off a career in music on the grounds that it wasn't women's work. Later, when playing before Queen Victoria, Felix slipped in a piece by Fanny which the Queen declared she liked the best.

Rolled Up Sleeves

Rolled Up Sleeves started in 2012 when vocalist Taylor Waldon and songwriter and drummer Adam Redwood met lead guitarist Kristian Smith and bassist Sean Mills at Palmers college in Grays. Fuelled by a mutual interest in indie and rock ‘n’ roll music, the four began recording original material.

Earth Day at Somerset House

Somerset House celebrates Earth Day - the world’s largest environmental event - with a variety of extraordinary visceral experiences by leading artists. With a first-hand look at how we are polluting the air around us, the artworks are designed to deliver a powerful rallying cry to do more to protect the environment. A series of geodesic domes by British artist Michael Pinsky recreate the air of locations across three continents – London, Beijing, São Paulo, Tautra and New Delhi. Travelling through the Pollution Pods, visitors can sense the difference in these atmospheres and find the cleanest air anywhere in London.
