A RAFT of new CCTV cameras are to be installed across the district.

A system is being installed at Norway House, the council's homeless hostel in North Weald, with more to be fitted later this year when six homeless pods are put in place.

Planning applications are being submitted for additional CCTV along High Road Epping to extend as far as Tescos, with cameras soon to be erected as part of car park improvement program at Quaker Lane Car park.

Designs for a system to cover the residential are and shopping precinct at Hill House and Leisure Centre have been submitted and is due for completion in Autumn, 2018.

In recent months the council's CCTV systems have brought in £480 from insurance companies paying for the footage, captured flytippers in the act and helped track down a robber who targeted an elderly man at an ATM in Loughton.
