AN MEP joined the local campaign trail ahead of elections on May 3.

Representative for the East of England in the European Parliament Alex Meyer joined Kay Morrison, chairperson of Lime Farm Resident's Association and candidate for the Grange Hill ward, knocking doors and handing out leaflets on Saturday.

Ms Morrison is one of a raft of hopefuls attempting to win Labour a seat on an Epping Forest District Council currently devoid of red rosettes.

She said: "People are concerned about crime and police numbers as well as housing, waste collection and potholes.

"The weather is ideal. This is a great way to get a suntan. Come and join us."
