The Green Party has set out its manifesto for the Local Elections.

The Greens have put forward candidates in all but two Waltham Forest wards (Leyton and Valley) and six of the 22 Redbridge wards.

The party’s local manifesto for both boroughs includes monitoring air quality, particularly around schools to improve health.

In Waltham Forest, the Greens want to trial traffic reduction schemes with effective public consultation, reverse spending cuts to youth services and provide more affordable housing.

In Redbridge, the party want to tackle issues of littering and fly-tipping, fight for more school places and to keep police stations open as well as prioritising affordable housing.

Across both boroughs, the party wishes to promote joined-up thinking.

A spokesman for the Green Party said: “Our candidates share a common vision. As Green Party councillors we would give a voice to residents, provide fresh ideas for the borough, and hold the council to account, as our Green Party London Assembly members, Sian Berry and Caroline Russell, do with Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan.

“We are caught up in a social crisis caused by lack of social housing, which must be urgently addressed. A gap has developed between the haves and the have-nots, leaving many long-term residents and young people alike facing an uncertain future.”
