Residents have been invited to design the official logo for the Borough of Culture – and the winner will get £1,000.

Waltham Forest Council has opened a competition for the borough’s students, residents and businesses to come up with an official logo.

The winning entry will be awarded will also have their design will be used across all promotions and merchandise.

In February 2018, Waltham Forest became the first London Borough of Culture for 2019.

This means the borough received a £5,000,000 investment to support the project.

The winner will have their artwork showcased in the campaign, supported by the Mayor of London.

Lorna Lee, director of London Borough of Culture 2019, said: “We want to see the creativity we know exists in our borough brought to life across the programme, and can’t wait to see some amazing ideas for our official logo.”

Judges are looking for designs which include the key themes of the winning bid – Makers, Radicals, Fellowship – as well as the five outcomes: Culture as our identity, culture on every corner, cultural capacity, culture as a career and culture as a bond.

Waltham Forest residents, businesses and students over the age of 16 are eligible to apply. Entrants can read the full brief and terms and conditions here.
