Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, joined Labour campaigners out on the streets of Redbridge today.
Mr Khan joined Redbridge Labour leader Jas Athwal knocking on doors in Barkingside and Fullwell and spoke to voters ahead of next week’s local election.
Redbridge is a swing borough, where the vote is relatively evenly split between political parties.
Sadiq Khan joined Cllr Jas Athwal, MP Wes Streeting and Fullwell Labour candidate, Vanisha Solanki in Barkingside and Fullwell today.
In the 2014 local elections, Labour won a majority in Redbridge Council with 35 councillors elected.
However, the Conservatives came close with 25 councillors elected.
Wes Streeting, MP for Ilford North, was out campaigning with them.
He said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to have Sadiq’s support in this the last week before elections. Residents have a clear decision to make on Thursday.
“Elect a Labour council who have delivered on the last four years’ promises with a strong manifesto or elect a Conservative council who will be the cheerleaders of Conservative government cuts.”
