A cyclist is fighting for his life after being hit by a car being chased by police.
The 28-year-old man was knocked down in Forest Road, Walthamstow shortly after 1am on Saturday (March 12) by a light-coloured BMW.
The driver, who fled the scene, had crashed into a number of parked cars at the junction with Holmes Avenue before hitting the cyclist.
Shortly before the crash, he had failed to stop for an unmarked police car.
Police are working to trace the driver and inform the next-of-kin of the cyclist.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an investigation and the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) has been informed.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dash-cam footage of it is asked to call officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command on 0208 597 4874 or tweet @MetCC.
