A Chingford pub is set to undergo a six-figure refurbishment, creating 15 new jobs in the process.

Greene Man in Old Church Road will reopen on Thursday (May 24) with a new bar and sports viewing area featuring high-quality sound systems and multiple screens.

The pub which has been closed since May 8 is also undergoing an extension to its beer garden and outdoor lighting is being installed.

Its new menu will include curry and a drink for £5.49 on Wednesdays and a £1 drink with any burger or grill on weekdays.

General manager, Andrew Betts said: “The Greene Man is at the heart of the local community, so we want to provide our guests with even better surroundings to enjoy a great selection of drinks and schedule of sporting events throughout the year.”

He added: “A poker night will kick off the launch on Thursday (May 24), followed by live music on Friday and karaoke on Saturday.

“A darts tournament will conclude the launch weekend on Sunday where we’d like to invite everyone to come and celebrate with us.”
