Community policeman Darren Brand was on hand to judge the best decorated house and a raffle was held to raise cash for Chingford Scouts and charity Haven House in Woodford Green.

The couple, known locally as Hugh and Myra, were joined by neighbours Jenny and Bernard Baker who got into the royal spirit and dressed up as monarchs.

Don Taylor, who helped organise the street party said: “There was face-painting and fancy dress for the children and all the residents moved their cars out of the street and the council gave us permission to close it off. It meant that children could play like they did in the old days.
