Fifty children took part in a ‘bully busting’ workshop where they learned how to stand up for themselves and others.

Empowerment coach Farah Butt hosted the event in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton for youngsters aged six to 12 on May 13.

Ms Butt tackled issues such as cyber and playground bullying and invited children to design anti-bullying posters and comic strips for their schools.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

“We got the children to explore different bullying scenarios and we also discussed why people bully others and how to tell if someone is being bullied,” said Ms Butt.

“I thought because it was Mental Health Awareness Week it was quite appropriate.

“The event was a huge success and the parents loved it.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

“I am looking to work with schools in the future to tackle bullying and roll this out across Waltham Forest and Ilford.

“There’s a need for it and I want to start the conversation to make people aware that there’s help out there.”
