Police have issued a dispersal order in an area of Waltham Forest as they crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

Waltham Forest Police said the order, issued under section 35 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, was to “help officers combat ASB and youth-related disorder”.

It came into effect at noon on Wednesday (May 23) and will last until midnight on Friday (May 25).

It covers a one square mile area which stretches from Whipps Cross Roundabout across to Leyton High Road, down to Hainault Road and over to Whipps Cross Road.

The order gives police the power to ask people to leave the area and not return within a specified time period if police believe members of the public are being harassed, alarmed or distressed, or if crime and disorder occurs.

It is a criminal offence to not comply with the terms of a Section 35 order.
