A tiny minority of people have admitted to driving without a seatbelt.
Following the news that Essex Police stopped 108 people for failing to strap up during a driving crackdown in Waltham Abbey on June 5, The Guardian polled readers about their seatbelt habits.
Only four per cent of people said they ever drove without a seatbelt.
Conversely, 87 per cent of the 208 respondents said they always buckled in.
Eight per cent said they don't drive and one per cent said they wore a seatbelt, but only when they were driving on their own.
Throughout the World Cup Essex Police is running an anti drink driving campaign.
If you have any information about a drink or drug driver please call 101, log on to the ‘Extra Eyes’ website at saferessexroads.org/extraeyes/ or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Those arrested during the campaign will have their details published online by Essex Police.
