Cold callers could be banned from going into certain streets.

Redbridge Council is asking people if they want the ‘no cold callers zone’ to be extended to certain streets.

It is already in place in Fullers Road, Fullers Avenue and Empress Avenue, Woodford.

But Chelmsford Road, Stanley Road, Derby Road, Malmesbury Road, Buckingham Road, Carnarvon Road, Walpole Road, Peel Road, Grove Road and Lincolin Road could also be added on.

The deadline for responses to the consultation is today, June 21.

It will mean unexpected visitors will be banned from knocking on people’s front doors, to stop elderly people from being duped by distraction burglars.

The council also want to know the extent of cold calling in the area and the effect it is having on people.

If there is sufficient support for a No Cold Calling Zone extension, signs will be placed on lamp posts around and within the new zone.
