A children’s charity has teamed up with London College of Fashion to create a book celebrating the summer’s hottest trends.

Barnardo’s and industry professionals are urging ethically conscious shoppers to head to their nearest charity store to pick up a copy of the ‘One of a Kind’ book, which shows off the unique looks you can create from pre-loved clothes.

The book was launched on June 7 and is available Barnardo’s shops including two branches in Old Church Road, Chingford, Wanstead High Street, George Lane in South Woodford and Manford Way in Chigwell.

It showcases colourful and exciting summery looks and takes inspiration from those who use fashion to express their individuality.

The book features both men and women and aims to inspire fashion lovers everywhere to consider charity shops as a sustainable, ethical and economical shopping destination.

Barnardo’s has also teamed up with global fashion movement, Fashion Revolution, to educate shoppers about the damaging effects textiles have on the environment and fashion industry, while promoting pre-loved clothing as an alternative and refreshing way to buy new garments.

Barnardo’s chief executive Javed Khan said: “Shopping at Barnardo’s helps us achieve our goal to reach and support even more vulnerable children, young people, parents and carers across the UK.”

He added: “We hope our new trend book will continue to inspire and encourage people to visit their local Barnardo’s shop.”

Extending the life of clothing by a further nine months would reduce carbon, waste and water footprints by around 20-30 per cent.
