More than 1,600 trees have been planted across borough in six months.

Waltham Forest Council has announced it has exceeded its own target of planting 1,200 trees between October 2017 and April 2018.

Neighbours are being encouraged by the council to care for the trees in their community by watering them when possible as hot weather sets in.

If you think there’s somewhere the council might have missed that needs a tree, email trees@walthamforest.gov.uk before the next planting season begins in October 2018.

Some of the species planted over the winter include magnolias and Himalayan birches which have been selected by tree officers for their durability, ability to soak up carbon monoxide, and ease of care.
