The town's bird lovers need beware a resourceful squirrel.

Norman Lansdown-Davis recently bought a 'squirrel proof' peanut holder to hang in his garden, in a bid to entice the bird population while keeping greedy, flluffy tailed rodents at bay.

Much to the feathered friend proponent's dismay, a squirrel manage to climb inside the seemingly mammal proof feeder.

Mr Lansdown-Davis said: "I had another feeder but the squirrels just gnawed at the bars.

"Squirrels really aren't meant to get into this one, but I suppose it's a young squirrel and they're like rats and can squeeze themselves through small gaps.

"They are cheeky little monkeys."

It is not known how many nuts the squirrel ate.
