A woman in her 20s had her necklace ripped from neck in a shocking mugging outside a primary school.

The victim was attacked by a man outside Roger Ascham School in Wigton Road, Walthamstow, at 10.45am on Wednesday (June 27).

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found the woman suffering minor injuries.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “The victim, a woman aged in her 20s, was stood in the road when she was approached by the suspect who asked her for directions.

“The victim gave him directions and he then demanded her necklace before grabbing it.

“There was a struggle before the suspect ran off with the necklace in the direction of North Countess Road.

“The victim sustained minor injuries from the incident.

“Officers searched the area for the suspect but did not locate him.

“The suspect is described as a black male, about 30 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches, and of slim to medium build.”
