A renowned food artist has created an edible portrait of England captain Harry Kane as a celebratory tribute to the hat-trick hero.

Nathan Wyburn spent more than four hours creating the masterpiece using 40 steak pies as a treat for football fans during World Cup season.

Kane, 24, who was born in Walthamstow, led his team to victory against Colombia on Tuesday, July 3, scoring the first goal of the match.

And while Kane’s steady footwork may have helped England secure a spot in the quarter-final against Sweden on Saturday, Wyburn needed an equally steady hand to create his portrait.

The artwork, which was commissioned by Pukka Pies, measures 60cm by 80cm and was created by the artist who used light, golden puff pastry as his canvas and steak gravy as his paint.

“I grew up in a football-loving family, so I wanted to create a tribute to Harry Kane – and what better way to do that then to marry the two things that football fans love…Pukka Pies and Harry Kane,” said Wyburn.

To further celebrate the nation’s hero, Pukka Pies is offering the first 50 pie fans named Harry Kane free vouchers until July 15, by tweeting them at @PukkaPies.**
