A council is offering a spa day, cinema vouchers and a breadmaking class to those willing to slim their bin.
In an attempt to cut down the amount of waste produced in the borough and encourage recycling, Waltham Forest Council is running a prize draw for those who opt to reduce the size of their general waste bins.
Those who switch to the smaller bins are in with a chance of winning:
-A £50 voucher to Empire Cinema
-A place on a sourdough breadmaking class at Today’s Bread, Walthamstow
-2 thermal spa passes at Feel Good Centre, Walthamstow
The competition is open to all who live in the borough and who choose to a smaller bin.
Requests to swap your bin can be made via your ‘My account’ on the council’s website and you must select that you would like to be entered into the monthly prize draw to be in with a chance of winning.

The authority has also issued advice on how to recycle more, including:
- Putting all you can into green recycling bin
- Placing your food waste and garden waste in the brown bin to be composted
- Putting unloved textiles in the green public recycling banks
- Depositing unwanted small electrical items in the grey public recycling Banks
- Using one of the three local recycling centres to recycle paint, batteries and oil

Entries close on Friday August 31 at 11:59pm and the winner will be announced soon after.
