CCTV images have been released of a man police want to identify after a “violent and unprovoked” attack left a man with a fractured jaw.

A 53-year-old man was left with serious injuries after being assaulted at 4.55pm on October 25 2017 in Chingford Mount Road.

In the lead up to the attack, the victim went to Barclays Bank accompanied by two companions, intending to withdraw cash.

The bank was closed, but the victim could see a customer inside the branch, who was guided outside by a staff member a short while later.

The victim was walking away from the bank with his companions when he felt a blow to the side of his head and fell to the floor. He suffered a fractured jaw.

The suspect, the man they had seen earlier inside the bank, made off on foot towards New Road, Chingford.

He is described as black, with short dark hair and wearing white trainers, a dark coloured t-shirt and blue tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Noble Adu Agyapong from Waltham Forest CID said: “Eight months has passed since this violent and unprovoked attack and I am committed to finding the person responsible.

“A number of lines of enquiry have been followed up during the investigation and I am now appealing to anyone with information about the attack or the whereabouts of the man in the CCTV to get in touch.”
