A portrait of the late singer Amy Winehouse, painted by a teenager, will go on sale to raise cash for a hospice helping youngsters with life-limiting conditions.

Harry Luxton, who attends Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford Green, will release his artwork for sale at the charity’s new boutique this weekend.

The 18-year-old of Havering has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and decided to put brush to canvas in recognition of the hospice’s links with the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which part-funds its music therapy service.

The mother and step-mother of the music legend will be welcomed as guests of honour to the launch event in Crouch End on Saturday, July 21.

Janis Winehouse and Jane Winehouse will cut the ribbon at the store, which will be added to the charity’s collection of shops across east London and Essex including Chingford, Epping, Leytonstone, Loughton and Romford.

Mike Palfreman, chief executive of Haven House, said: “Amy Winehouse is a North London legend and we are delighted to be celebrating our links with the Foundation by launching a beautiful print by Harry for shoppers to buy at our new Crouch End boutique.

“For many years, we have wanted to open a boutique in Crouch End as part of our strategy to extend our retail presence to North London.

“Having found the perfect location, we are now in a position where we are able to do so.

“We look forward to welcoming shoppers at our official opening with Janis and Jane Winehouse on Saturday July 21 at 11am.

“In the run-up to the opening, we are also urging residents to donate their pre-loved goods to the boutique and volunteer their time.”
