The newly-appointed headteacher of a high school has promised to build upon the work of his predecessor and aim for even higher standards.
Steven Hogan will take up his new role at Woodbridge High School in St Barnabas Road, Woodford Green, in September.
The mixed comprehensive with over 1,600 students was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in its last inspection in 2016 and has been led by Andrew Beaumont since 2003.
Bob Pamplin, chair of governors, said Mr Hogan’s appointment marks “the start of a new era” for the school.
Mr Hogan said: “I am immensely proud and extremely privileged to have been appointed as headteacher at Woodbridge.
“I have spent my whole teaching career so far working at Woodbridge for a reason - it is a great school with fantastically loyal students, supportive parents and dedicated staff.
“All this is the result of Andrew Beaumont’s excellent leadership over the last fifteen years.”
Mr Beaumont congratulated Mr Hogan on his new role and said he is confident the school he leaves behind will “continue to prosper and serve the community very well”.
He added: “I could not wish for a stronger leader to whom to pass the privilege of leading this wonderful community.”
