The missing half of a school's year group is sought fifty years after the last of them left.

In September 1961, 96 eleven-plus successfuls walked through doors of County High School for Girls in Loughton, more typically known as Loughton High.

Now mixed-sex and renamed Roding Valley High School, the then all female cohort was decked out in a blazer, beret and navy gymslip, replete with a sophisticated button belt.

Angela Story, who is organising the reunion, said: "All were culled from overground points along the Central Line, from Ongar in the north east of the territory down as far as Wanstead and a few points either side.

"Few knew any but a handful of others.

"A 25 year anniversary reunion was held in 1986 and a fifty year in 2011. But most have never met since that last summer."

So far half of the 1968 leavers have been traced.

Anyone with information leading to the others is asked to contact Ms Story on email@amstory.co.uk

She added: "We’re approaching 70. This may be our last chance to say ‘hi’."

The reunion takes place on August 15 and will include a brief tour of the school followed by lunch at The Owl at High Beech.
