Twenty pensioners were treated to a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster by MP Wes Streeting.

Member of Chaps That Chat, a men-only conversation group to tackle loneliness, run by Jewish Care in Redbridge, were shown around by the MP for Ilford North.

Founder Sid Green said: “It was a privilege to visit the Houses of Parliament and the House of Lords. I found it incredible and so spectacular, it was something I shall never forget.

“The Chaps had an unbelievable experience, one they will always remember and we’d like to thank Wes Streeting for his time and for taking us on the fascinating tour.”

The group which meets once a month at Redbridge Jewish Community Centre in Wood Bridge Road has 80 members.

Each meeting includes a speech from a guest speaker and tea and refreshments.

Mr Streeting said: “It was fantastic to welcome Chaps That Chat to Parliament for a tour.

“Having met them before, I knew it would be a fun evening.

“I’m really pleased that they were able to come and visit and special thanks go to Sid Green and Jewish Care for helping to organise it.

“I look forward to seeing them again in the constituency.”
