Community groups could soon have access to a new public garden.

For the past two years workers at Grange Farm Centre on the High Road, Chigwell have been spreading soil from other projects at the eastern end of the farm.

With development money secured, the Centre plans on converting the area into a garden.

In a planning application to Epping Forest District Council, agents The Tooley & Foster Partnership wrote: "An application for grant funding has been granted by Essex County council(CIF) to create a community garden for local groups such as the Epping Forest Voluntary Group who will manage it in conjunction with Grange Farm.

"This proposed garden will help to extend the range of high quality facilities that the trust is providing for the enjoyment of many local community groups within the Parish and the surrounding communities."

Grange Farm Centre is a 90-acre community facility and charity.
