Tributes were paid to a "quiet" and "likeable" councillor who recently died.

Frank Love represented the Chipping Ongar Ward from 1978, serving on all the main committees during that time.

At a meeting last week the chairman of council, Councillor Richard Bassett, invited members to stand for a minute's silence before cllr Paul Keska said: "The huge list of appointment and committees that he had here is a far more elegant way to describe what he gave to the council and this area.

"You couldn't know frank without liking him. He was a very likeable person and very well known in Ongar.

"When his health failed he could still be seen on his mobility scooter going up and down the high street doing his shopping.

"He will be sorely missed in Ongar. He was a very nice gentleman."

Cllr Richard Morgan went on to remember a "quiet" and "gentle" man before sending condolences to Mr Love's daughters.
