The head of a sixth form which saw its A-level results jump to a seven year high said she is “immensely proud” of her students and staff.

Kate Spencer Ellis said the excellent results achieved by students at Forest School would help them realise their future ambitions.

The high school and sixth form in Oakhurst Gardens, Walthamstow saw a five per cent rise in the number of students attaining an A* grade and 50 per cent of students this year were awarded an A or A*.

Top girl Grace Oswald has already started at UC Berkley in the United States having gained four A* grades.

Zoe Kundu has been offered a scholarship at the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester University making it the seventh year in a row for a Forest pupil to have won a scholarship to a conservatoire.

Ms Spencer Ellis, head of the sixth form, said: “I’m immensely proud of the depth and breadth of work that Forest’s Sixth Form have done in order to get to today.

“Students leave Forest well qualified, grounded and passionate about making a positive impact on the world around them.

“These excellent A-level results will no-doubt help them to achieve their ambitions.”

Eighty-two per cent of Forest students secured a place at their chosen university including 10 who will begin courses at Oxford and Cambridge as well as competitive medical courses at top institutions.

In addition to a minimum of three A Levels, all Year 12 students take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) as part of the school’s diploma.

Seventy-eight per cent of this year’s cohort were awarded A* or A grades for their project.

Deputy head academic, Tahmer Mahmoud, said: “These fabulous results show just how much progress our Year 13 leavers have made over the last two years.

“They’ve grown as thinkers, planners and doers, and today is about acknowledging how far they’ve come in their personal journeys.”
