CRICKET

Two Metropolitan Essex youth cricket finals take place this Sunday.

And for Woodford Wells Cricket Club that spells double delight - they not only host the Len Stentiford U13 Cup and the Cox & Kings U15 Cup, but they play in one of the finals as well.

In the Len Stentiford cup semi finals they beat Buckhurst Hill away. Put into bat, Woodford Wells scored 96 for six wickets in the allotted 20 overs with Tom Styles top scoring with 21, closely followed by Sachin Modi (20).

Replying, Buckhurst Hill lost two wickets with 26 on the board and then more followed as Arfan Rahman took three wickets in the 18th over.

In the end Hill finished up just three runs short on 93 for 9 as the overs ran frustratingly to their end.

Fives and Heronians won the other Stentiford semi-final.

Playing Wanstead, they scored 98 for three wickets. The visitors got 70 runs in 20 overs.

In the U15 Cox & Kings Cup semi finals South Woodford beat Wanstead by one run to get through to the final where they will face Old Parkonians.
