Holiday fun in Woodford Green

YOUNGSTERS in Woodford Green enjoyed a holiday club full of fun activities arranged by St Barnabas Church last week.

Each morning from 10am to 12noon children from the area got together and played games in the church's hall in Snakes Lane East. The programme cost just £4 which helped pay for expenses.

Father Alan Cross has been putting on the annual event for the last 17 years and was very pleased to see such a multitude enjoying themselves.

He said: "We had about 40 to 50 children with us for the week. We finished on Friday with a farewell lunch where all the children shared sandwiches and made cakes in the church hall's kitchen.

"We had arts and crafts and the children got to play with a parachute. The week was not intended to have any particular religious theme but was an outreach event to the community."

Next year's holiday club is likely to be the last which Father Cross is involved in as he is set to retire soon afterwards. But he was very grateful to all those who made it such a success once again.

He added: "I would like to thank everyone for coming including the helpers, parents and children. It was a fantastic event and we all had a great deal of fun."
