A teenager temporarily blinded by the same carjackers alleged to have attacked ex-boxer Michael Watson has told the court of his ordeal.

Bradley Robinson, of Epping Green, said the ammonia squirted into his face at the Esso petrol station in Loughton left his eyelids burnt and his eyes extremely sensitive,

The attack happened just two weeks before an attack on disabled boxing legend Michael Watson and his carer, Lennard Ballack, in The Ridgeway, Chingford.

Simon Luck, 29, and Paul Samuels, 31, are accused of spraying ammonia into Bradley Robinson’s face while stealing his £30,000 BMW on February 4 last year.

The duo, as well as Anselm Legemah, 23, also deny conspiracy to rob and spraying liquid as part of the Michael Watson case.

Bradley was looking for a toilet with his friend and passenger Phoebe Evans-Khan, who was described in court as a schoolgirl.

In a statement read out at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Mr Robinson said: "I spoke to staff at the garage and was told the toilet was locked and I couldn’t use it.

"I was looking at Phoebe while putting on my seatbelt and putting the car in reverse.

"My driver window was fully down and I heard someone say 'excuse me have you got a light'.

"I turned around and saw the male but was immediately squirted in the face with something.

"I did not see if the male was holding anything. I was blinded as I felt pain in my eyes.

"At the hospital they couldn't tell me what he squirted in my face and they didn't think it would cause any permanent injury.

"My eyes are too sensitive to keep open for a couple of seconds and my lids feel burnt."

The court heard Mr Robinson's Audi was found that evening in a road behind where Luck and Samuels lived.

Robert Evans, prosecuting, said: "The Audi they stole had a tracker in it. Once it was reported stolen the tracker was activated.

"Its position was found in a road called Queensbury Place. That's a road just behind where Mr Samuels and Mr Luck lived.

"The car was there at 12.58am, 40 minutes after the robbery. It stayed there until 1.33am and the car was moved to another location."

Jurors also heard that a white Mercedes used by the pair for the first robbery and with Anselm Legemah, 23, for the second attempted carjacking of Michael Watson was later recovered after having crashed.

Mr Evans said: "The white Mercedes was itself a stolen car.

"The lawful owner of the car made modifications to it and when he saw CCTV he was able to identify his car from the footage

"That car was actually found crashed a few weeks after this incident, on February 26.

"By that stage it had different number plates on it again. Inside the car were further number plates for a white Audi S3 - Mr Robinson's car.

"Mr Luck's DNA was found - some saliva on the airbag which was deployed after the car was crashed. They also found within the car a bottle of ammonia - a brand called Clean Off."

Prosecutors say the white Mercedes is what links to the two carjackings to the same robbers.

Mr Evans said: "It's the prosecution's case that it's the same car in both robberies. The first robbery car had been identified by a detective who searched for stolen cars with the description of this vehicle.

"The car was reported stolen on January 29 last year. The owner identified his car from its unique features and he's also seen footage from a bus CCTV camera that shows that car about when that second robbery happened."

The trial continues.
