A mesmerising photo capturing penguins in the Falkland Islands was picked as the overall winner of this year’s Woodford and Wanstead Photographic Society’s annual print competition.
Experienced photographer David Wilcox who judged the competition on Monday, August 27, said David Tyrrell’s photo of the animals on a beach, entitled ‘Penguins on Parade, caught his eye more than any other entry.
Mr Wilcox said: "David's stunning photograph of king penguins in the Falkland Islands stood out from what was a very high standard of entries.”
Mr Tyrrell added: "I am extremely pleased to have captured this image as I only had two hours to photograph the penguins of which there are over 1,000 breeding pairs.
“It was a wonderful experience".
