RECORDS were smashed when the Rotary Club of Epping held its third Copped Hall Fun Run on Sunday.
The event attracted a record number of entrants, and saw the course record for the main race broken.
Mens winner Crispian Bloomfield (Billericay Striders) set a new record for the five-mile multi-terrain course with a time of 27mins 30secs.
The first woman home was Natalie Kipps (Orion Harriers) in 36mins 15secs.
The event, sponsored by the Loughton-based Higgins Group and the Epping Forest Guardian, attracted 112 junior runners, and 316 adult entries.
Proceeds from the day will be split between the Copped Hall Trust, which is continuing to restore the mansion, and the Rotary Club of Epping's fundraising efforts to support gifted and talented athletes at local secondary schools in the run-up to the London 2012 Olympics.
While the runners negotiated the course, which was still wet in places following rain last Friday, race supporters could enjoy a barbecue and listen to the Davenant Foundation School Jazz Band performing.
There was also a chance to see some of the work carried out at the historic mansion.
