THE Theydon Bois Village News publication has won the overall award in the annual community magazines competition run by the Rural Community Council for Essex.

Ninety entries were whittled down to 13 finalists with Theydon Bois News scooping the best bi-monthly/quarterly award and the overall title with judges describing the magazine as "superb". The village receives a certificate and £150 cash prize.

The Hatfield Heath village magazine received a merit award.
