PETANQUE
CHIGWELL Petanque Club held the first rounds of the Herts and Essex Winter League fixtures for the first time.
Eight teams battled it out at the Metropolitan Sports Club, each playing two teams in up to 13 games for a maximum score of three points a match.
Potters Bar and Towers 1 were the most successful teams, gaining a maximum six points, after winning all their games. Victorians 2 from Theydon Bois managed four points, while Britannia 1 and Britannia 2 both scored three points. Towers 2 and Victorians 2 made up the numbers.
The next league fixture is at Potters Bar's home at Oakmead Park on Sunday.
