DID you know that Waltham Forest Theatre, in Lloyd Park, could be demolished soon?
We have just attended the Gang Show which could be the last performance there.
Although the theatre was going to be closed two years ago and many groups that used it regularly had to find a new location, nothing was done with the building.
Due to constant pressure from the Waltham Forest Gang Show committee the council agreed to let them use it for their show.
The plans seem to infer that the council wants to replace the building with an open air performance space. Would you want to go to an open air theatre in the winter or in the rain?
We were very impressed to see that two local teenagers have put forward a Save the Theatre Project backed by Kevin Spacey, who saved the Old Vic. E-mail waltham-forest-theatre@hotmail.com to give your support.
The Mayor and several councillors attended the Gang Show. Do they not see this building as a local asset?
