POLICE have issued descriptions of a gang of thugs who beat up a man in a subway at Leytonstone Tube station on Saturday.

A 31-year-old was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital by ambulance after he was found with head injuries at 5.30am.

CCTV footage revealed that four people beat the man up while several other men and a woman watched.

He was treated for concussion and bruising but was not seriously hurt.

British Transport Police (BTP) have now issued detailed descriptions of the four assailants.

They are all white and aged between 20 and 25 years.

One had short dark hair, of medium build and was about 5ft 9in. He was wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans and trainers.

Another also had short dark hair, was of medium build and was 5ft 9in, wearing a white long-sleeved top, blue jeans and trainers.

The third thug had short dark hair, was of heavy buildm about 5ft 11in, and was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and trainers.

The final man had a shaved head, was of medium build and was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and trainers.

The woman who watched the attack is described as aged 20-25, white and wearing a short black skirt and white top.

BTP Det Sgt Fraser Scott said: "This was a very serious assault and I ask anyone with information about what took place to come forward to police."
