LEA Bridge Road has been reopened but temporary traffic lights are still in place.
Thames Water is working to repair the road in Leyton after a 12 inch water main burst nearby in Argall Way last night and caused damage to the carriageway.
A Thames Water spokeswoman said: "There are temporary traffic lights in place outside the Lea Valley Ice Rink on Lea Bridge Road.
"The road is expected to fully reopen on Thursday after repairs to the carriageway."
Thames Water said that no premises were flooded as a result of the leak.
A riding stable has had its water supply affected but the company has provided the business with a tanker.
"We would like to apologise to road users for any inconvenience experienced."
