In this picture, we can see Old Church Road, Chingford, looking south in 1955.
Although it is now a bustling shopping area, it was not always like this.
Historically, the road was home to several farms and cottages.
However, with an increasing population, there was a need for shops and services to cater to the growing demand.
Over time, the road slowly transformed into the major shopping area that we see today.
