DETECTIVES investigating a murder in Walthamstow are keen to speak to witnesses, in particular anyone who may have seen a masked man running from the scene.
The victim, a 20-year-old man was found with stab wounds in the head and chest at 8.30pm yesterday in St David's Court, Forest Road.
The man police went to interview is described as being in his late teens or early 20s and of slim build.
He was wearing a hooded top, the colour as yet unknown, and a white full-face mask.
He was seen running towards Wyatts Lane, off Wood Street.
Det Chief Insp Bob Mahoney, who is leading the investigation,said: "It is vital that we trace this man as soon as possible.
"He will have been heavily bloodstained and in an agitated state. We urge anyone with information to contact us."
Witnesses are asked to contact the Homicide and Serious Crime Command on 020 8345 3775, or to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
It is thought that the man who died was visiting a friend in St David's Court when he was attacked in the stairwell close to the property.
He managed to reach the flat before collapsing.
He was pronounced dead at the scene an hour an hour after the call-out.
Police believe they know his identity but await confirmation. Next of kin have been informed.
A post mortem will be held in due course.
