A construction worker who died in a tragic roof collapse has been named.
Ekarmanjeet Singh, a young man who was living in Hayes, Middlesex, from The Punjab, India, was named today (December 21) as the worker who died.
Waltham Forest Trades Council (WFTC), which named Ekarmanjeet, said he was working on a terraced row house for the owner in Pevensey Road, Leytonstone, on December 12 when the roof collapsed.
The union had described is as yet another "tragedy" of someone being killed at work. The Metropolitan Police confirmed he had died at the scene.
WFTC said: "There is an HSE [Health and Safety Executive] Direction to leave undisturbed notice on the door which names the owner who is recorded as residing in E13."
The case falls under the jurisdiction of Walthamstow Coroner and the inquest is yet to be opened, it was added.
Kevin Parslow, secretary at WFTC, previously said: “Sadly the tragedy of someone being killed at work returns to Waltham Forest.
"No one should go to work and never return and no family should ever have to experience this.”
