The day thousands have been waiting for is so very close, as the capital welcomes runners and spectators taking part in the London Marathon. 

With months of training and planning on how you're going to take on the 26-mile route, there is one thing no one can plan. 

Sadly, the weather is uncontrollable and could see you running in the blistering heat or non-stop downpours of rain. 

But so you don't get caught out and know what to expect, we have the full hour-by-hour breakdown of the day's weather according to the Met Office. 

London Marathon hour-by-hour weather forecast

Below is a full breakdown of the weather for the day of the Marathon, April 21 and you can find out more information via the Met Office.

  • 7am- Bright clouds with a 10% chance of precipitation, 6C, wind gusts of 10mph, 71% humidity
  • 10am- Dark clouds with a 10% chance of precipitation, 8C, wind gusts of 18mph, 63% humidity
  • 1pm- Dark clouds with a 10% chance of precipitation, 10C, wind gusts of 21mph, 57% humidity.
  • 4pm- Bright clouds with a 10% chance of precipitation, 11C, wind gusts of 23mph, 52% humidity.
  • 7pm- Bright clouds with a 10% chance of precipitation, 10C, wind gusts of 22mph, 52% humidity.
  • 10pm- Clouds with a 5% chance of precipitation, 8C, wind gusts of 19mpg, 61% humidity.

The Met Office forecast shares: "Patchy cloud with bright or sunny spells at times. Light winds feeling mild by day after chilly starts."

Elsewhere, BBC Weather shares: "Saturday and Sunday are expected to see cloud move in from the north-east, bringing a small chance of a few isolated light showers.

"Cloud may break up to reveal some brightness at times, mainly in the early morning and through the evening. Increasing winds on Sunday."
