Detective Inspector Driss Hayoukane of Met’s Specialist Crime Unit revealed that this was a "data-driven investigation" into drug supply in Ilford and London.

Officers, he said, are “using every tactic and technology available to them” to identify and arrest people behind this “exploitative trade”.

He added: “Those who seek to benefit from the misery caused by illegal drugs should be aware that Met officers are working around the clock with partner organisations in this country and overseas.

“Please contact the police If you know who is supplying illegal drugs to people in your community. They are destroying lives and greatly increasing the risk of young people becoming victims of violent crime.

“You can call police on 101 or to remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers.”
