A MAN was hit over the head with an iron bar in broad daylight in an apparently random attack.
The 34-year-old was walking to Queens Road train station, in Walthamstow, along Shrubland Road, when the brutal assault took place.
He was suddenly struck on the back of the head, fell to the ground but later managed to reach the train station.
He believes his assailant ran away towards Hoe Street.
The man was taken by ambulance to hospital and received four stitches.
He was not robbed and police say he has no idea who his attacker was or why he assaulted him.
The culprit is described as white, about 20, about 5ft 10in tall and wearing a black jumper with a white hooded top underneath.
Anybody with information about the assault, which happened at about 3pm on July 9, should call PC Jonathan Potter of Chingford CID on 8345 3083.
Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
