WOODFORD GREEN: Man arrested for casino fraud

A SUSPECTED fraudster has been arrested for his part in a gambling ring that cheated money out of casinos and bookmakers.

The 30-year-old, from Woodford Green, is one of three men being held by police after they were snared during a joint operation between the Metropolitan Police and the Gambling Commission.

The unnamed man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud as part of Operation Suresh, which was launched in January.

All three suspects, including a 42 year-old man from Hackney and a 53 year-old man from Dagenham, are thought to have ‘fradulently’ entered a number of casinos, and cheated once inside.

Detective Inspector John Anderson, from the Met's Clubs and Vice Unit, said: "While we're used to working in partnership, this is the first joint operation of its kind we have run with the Gambling Commission.

“These men have been repeatedly committing acts of fraud to gain entry to gaming establishments with the aim of cheating.

"Through working collectively together in this way we can form a more effective response to combat organised gaming fraud."
