A WOMAN was threatened at knifepoint and robbed of £3 and her mobile phone.

The victim, aged in her mid-30s, was walking in Tower Road, in Epping – near the rear the Gates car showroom – shortly after midnight on Friday when she was grabbed from behind by a man.

She was pushed into a driveway between two houses and ordered to hand over any cash or valuables.

A police spokesman said that when the robber realised she had only £3 in cash on her she was also ordered to hand over her Nokia mobile phone.

The woman was uninjured but left badly shaken by her ordeal.

The robber was white, about 5ft 7ins tall, and spoke with an eastern European accent. He was wearing a dark hooded top pulled tightly around his face, dark jeans and white trainers.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw a man matching the description in the area – specifically hanging around the station, or in Station Road or the High Street area late on Friday evening.

Anyone with any information about the incident should ring Epping Police Station on 0300 333 4444, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
