A CHARITY gardening scheme is appealing for unwanted tools.

Voluntary Action Epping Forest runs a Mow and Grow project where volunteers help the elderly or those physically unable to undertake gardening.

But the scheme does not have enough good quality tools.

Learning disability co-ordinator Sally Panrucker said: "Mow and Grow is desperately short of gardening tools and need your help. This has led to our 'Tool Amnesty' during September.

“If you have any spare good quality gardening tools that you would like to donate Mow and Grow and its clients would be very grateful for your support."

Demand for help through the scheme has become so great that the team has had to start a waiting list. The project is always looking for able-bodied volunteers with an interest in gardening to join the workforce.
