Old Brentwoods 152-a/o
Buckhurst hill 151-1

(Division Three)

BUCKHURST Hill stand on the cusp of promotion success after securing a convincing nine-wicket win at Old Brentwoods.

The hosts had been one of only two teams to inflict a league defeat on the Division Three leaders, so Hill were keen for revenge.

The Old boys decided to open the batting after winning the toss, but fell away from the off.

Top order pair Zoheb Mahmood and Khalid Sarwar both went for ducks in the first over.

This brought together Moin Mulla and Alex Rushent, but they both went for nine apiece to leave the hosts in real trouble.

While middle-order batsman Liam Kelly (37) proved a bit of a tougher nut to crack, wickets continued to fall cheaply at the other end and only a spirited 48 from veteran Arshad Mughal pushed them onto their final total of 152.

The twin-attack of Russell Beckett and Joe Slisz once again did the bulk of the damage as they finished with excellent respective figures of 3-18 and 3-41.

Josh Peters (2-19) once again played a fine supporting role with the ball, while both Ali Raza and Daniel Platt picked up a wicket each.

In reply, Hill lost opener Peters cheaply for four, but skipper Beckett, with a fantastic undefeated 102 and Jamie Allen (35*), saw the visitors home with ease.
