ONGAR were made to pay for travelling to Benfleet with a depleted team, as they found themselves soundly beaten by eight wickets.
The visitors lost the toss on an average-looking track and the hosts had no hesitation in inviting the Love Lane men to bat.
But with the players available, Ongar were simply not up to the task in hand apart from Blake Hall, who scored an unbeaten 35 out of Ongar’s 56, which also included seven extras.
After tea, the visitors bowled well, with Hall taking two wickets, but the hosts were able to wrap up victory in just 15.4 overs.
