WHAT a refreshing change to read Sarah Cosgrove’s up-beat piece on the big screen switch-on (Guardian, August 14).
Her vox pop was particularly positive and the accompanying picture of picnicking mothers and toddlers enjoying the occasion was a delight.
I was very happy to be present at this uplifting event and, having taken some flak for supporting the project, felt vindicated in doing so.
I was also glad that the naysayers seemed to have stayed away. or perhaps they were skulking in a corner somewhere planning their next campaign to try and thwart anything positive ever happening for arts and culture in Walthamstow town centre.
