BUS services across Redbridge are set to be severely affected this Friday (October 10) as drivers go on strike in a dispute over pay and conditions.

The industrial action, which will begin at 3am on Friday and will last for 24 hours, was called by union Unite after demands that its members who work for the First Bus Group get a standard pay package of £30,000 a year was turned down.

It is the third time in as many months that First drivers have gone on strike in London.

A spokesman for the First Group said many services across west and east London will be affected, although some services might run depending on which workers turns up on the day.

According to the First Group, potentially affected services in Redbridge include the 179, the 679, the W12, the 958 and the 308.

The union said they may also hold another strike on Wednesday October 22 if their demands are not met.
